Well This Is Awkward, But…

… “are you getting paid for this?”… “clearly you are getting free stuff, right? “… “if you can afford these items, why do you even care what’s functional?”…

Let’s just jump in the deep end on all of the questions I know start to circulate when a blog uses buzzwords like “couture”, “luxury”, “new release”, and the list goes on. Why don’t we just clear the air before the first post even publishes shall we?! We’re all friends here, no hiding from the tough questions 😉

(Q) Are you getting paid for this? (A) Heck no! Whether I would like to be paid for this is a whole different ballgame, but no this is not a passion I am being reimbursed for in ANY way – monetary or otherwise. If there ever comes a time when this becomes wildly famous and I have advertisers or designers knocking on my door for promotions, reviews, etc., that will be fully disclosed in the relevant post. I’m not looking to deceive, sway, or brand bash. Period.

(Q) Are you getting free products? (A) Again, NOPE. All of the products have been purchased on my own accord and with my own dime. If that changes, you’ll know through disclosure on the related blog post(s) 👍🏞

(Q) If you can afford these items, why worry about functionality, clearly you can just buy something else if you don’t like it? (A) I take a significant amount of pride in my collection of both technology and luxury accessories. It has been a 10+ year journey to accumulate and I understand that some people may have considerably more or less than what I own. This blog is in no way a “show off” for my own ego boost. While I can fully recognize my incredible opportunities to purchase these items, money is not free-flowing in this girl’s world! I want to spend my hard-earned income on pieces I truly love and bring joy. If I could just grab the next Chanel 19 bag right out of the boutique or pull the Samsung Fold 2 right out of the store, I probably wouldn’t be writing this blog right now. I’d be shopping ðŸ’Ŋ

(Q) Well, I just don’t agree and my experience was totally different… (A) Let’s take a commercial break prior to answering this question or any variations thereof…

Blog = personal opinion = personal experiences = unique content to the writer

…This blog is a personal reflection of experiences, usage, opinions, etc. The wonderful thing about being “personal” is that it provides a new perspective for consideration. I am not looking to serve as an authoritative source on anything, just a place for real feedback and genuine opinions free from pressure or influence. The comments section is always a safe space to agree, disagree, provide your own commentary, etc.

(Q) How often do you plan on posting? (A) I’d like to say that my target is once a week, but let’s face it – life gets in the way sometimes. I don’t want to start out making promises I can’t keep. Let’s just say “regularly” for now, and if you have a chance to follow the TechCoutureGirl Insta page (@techcouturegirl), you’ll be sure to get new post alerts there as well.

(Q) Are all of your bags, accessories, and fashion items directly from boutiques? (A) Probably 90% of my personal collection is directly from the boutique, mainly because I am fortunate enough to live close to a major city with access to store locations. That being said, there are some OUTSTANDING luxury consignment and personal shopper options out there! When I was on the hunt for a few of my vintage pieces, high-end consignment really came through with excellent, almost new condition items for a fraction of the cost. Same with personal shoppers – if you live somewhere that doesn’t have direct access to store locations, there are wonderful personal shoppers that don’t charge ridiculous finders fees. I’ve personally been loyal to a few Instagram personal shoppers that have incredible service, low fees, and an unbelievable worldwide network to source new products or pre-order new collection pieces before they hit stores! I’ve also looked to both consignment and personal shoppers when on the fence about an item and I don’t necessarily want to spend a fortune on a piece I’m not 100% on (…queue my brooch phase…). All of this being said, please please please understand that there are scam accounts, sites, and individuals looking to capitalize on innocent customers and de-fraud the designers with counterfeit goods or worse, no goods at all and just looking for you to make that money transfer! In fact, this has me so fired up it’s going to be the topic of one of my first few posts on this site! Education, information, and awareness can never be in overabundance when we are talking luxury shopping 💰

(Q) Do you actually use all of the devices you have? (A) Honestly, brace yourself, yes! Phones are probably my biggest obsession thanks to my plan flexibility, so those go through the wringer and yes, they have all been used each and every day. There probably isn’t a phone on the market (or off the market!) that I haven’t personally had for either private or work use. Computers, tablets, and laptops are also all used on a regular basis, if not every day. I tend to cycle through those less frequently simply because of the required upfront costs (compared to phone plans), but I try not to let that stop me. Also, computer technology doesn’t particularly refresh as often as phone features and capabilities, so that helps. Headphones, speakers, and audio devices are most likely the rarest of my purchases simply because my lifestyle doesn’t offer significant use of those items and I’d rather invest in any of the other items above. That being said, I do love a good Sonos home theater buy or Bose noise-canceling headphones purchase…ok, fine, AirPods too ðŸŽķ

(Q) Do you have a career in writing, blogging, etc.? (A) Nope! And for that, I ask for your forgiveness in grammar, punctuation, and other potentially basic errors🙏 While my career does have me writing quite a bit, I am by no means a professional editor, writer, or the like. I absolutely love sitting down and being inspired by the flow of creativity that comes with journaling though, hence my inspiration and motivation to blog. Oh, and I am definitely one of those people that silently judges other people on their grammar, so yes, I’ll be reading posts about 10,000 times before publishing which means that if an error does happen to slip through, it was due purely to an accident or potentially tired eyes ðŸĪŠ

Well, I think that should cover it, at least for now. Please don’t be afraid to reach out to me directly if you have any other questions – nothing is off limits! I reserve the right to respectfully decline to answer, but you’ll never know if you don’t ask!

With that out of the way

……

Bring on the good stuff! 👜 ðŸ“ą
