…love gadgets and Gucci…laptops and Laurent…earbuds and Hermes…
For longer than I can remember, the rush of (carefully!) removing the perfectly placed tissue paper from a brand new purse and the excitement of peeling off the crystal clear screen protector on a new cell phone has emitted the same glimmer to my eye and warmth to my heart. My love for Chanel and Louis runs just as deep as my excitement for the newest Apple, Microsoft, or Samsung device. Crazy right?! For me, fashion and technology go hand-in-hand like Tiffany + blue boxes or McQueen + skulls. I mean, how could I invest in a fabulous new mermaid Chanel Mini without knowing if my Pixel XL would fit so I could actually wear the bag with my necessities? Conversely, if I have a choice between the iPhone X and Galaxy Note, it is only reasonable to want to know my access to cases and accessories after understanding the specs and new features.
After endless Google searches, Instagram stalking, and YouTube unboxing videos, I noticed that unless I scour the internet with the same level of commitment as my 9-5 job, learning if my newest phone or laptop would fit in my wonderful and fabulous [Chanel, Louis, Dior, Prada] was exhausting and generally left me with more questions than I started with. Yes, dimensions are helpful and I love a good “what fits in my bag” tutorial, but is that really going to explain if my laptop, cosmetic case, wallet, cell phone, and the plethora of who-knows-what-else will play nicely in my bag day after day? What if my phone doesn’t have an available LV/Chanel/Moschino/etc. case, am I out of luck entirely? What are my choices for a functional, luxury work bag that doesn’t sacrifice the “it bag” factor for function? What’s my best option for a great, cutting edge phone that won’t have me buying carry-on luggage just to bring it with me to the grocery store (…here’s looking at you, phablets…)? Don’t get me wrong, a tutorial is valuable, but those Tetris placed items to show bag “potential” really had me scratching my head saying to myself, ”so you mean to tell me that the minute I grab my wallet, I’m left reorganizing my purse on the checkout counter just to fit it back into the one specific location it slides into?!”
Can’t say I love the choice of a) perfectly curated positioning or b) passing on a fabulous item (albeit purse, phone, or otherwise) just because I can’t tell whether it’ll mesh with my ever-evolving everyday style.
So, what’s a girl to do when she can’t seem to find the answers to something so seemingly simple? SOLVE THE PROBLEM YOURSELF!
Now, before any comments or judgment is placed (however unsolicited!), I understand that my dilemma of whether my $xxx phone fits in my $xxx accessory seems potentially “first-world-problem-esque”. Here’s my response – keep on moving on. This blog may not be for you and that’s perfectly OK. All are welcome and I understand that this may not be the welcome topic for all. I hope to inspire constructive, educational, and dare I say, funny, content with an eye on everyday functionality. Read at your own leisure, pleasure, and shopping risk!
I know that I can’t be the only one searching for real-life answers to real-life questions dealing with everyday situations regarding laptops, phones, purses, luggage, etc. I truly hope to share the small wealth of knowledge I’ve gained through trial-and-error to other fashionistas with a love of tech. Heck, I may even help answer some of those unique and unanswered questions related to fashion-meets-function, building confidence in purchasing! If all of that falls short, I know that I can encourage those reading to embrace that there is always a space in this world to share what you love. Even to all of those thinking “who the heck cares about this” – I’ve got you thinking, haven’t I! In full disclosure, I would totally relish in the idea of becoming famous, retiring, and spending my days sipping coffee while blogging to the masses; however, I know that I am doing this for me. With 1 reader or 100k readers, I’ll be happy knowing I added my touch to the world’s narrative
So, where do we go from here?
……
Everywhere, darling – Welcome to TechCoutureGirl!
I love this! I’m here for it girl! While it may be “first world problems”, it is still a nice getaway in my mind from the current stresses of the world.. even if just for a minute. These are real issues us crazies face when commiting to such large purchases!! Will my phone fit? Is it practical? (okay, fine.. none of it is PRACTICAL but you know what I mean!) I really enjoy your blog.. keep it up! Look forward to more! <3
Thank you so much for all the love!! I would always find myself obsessing over something and then being like “hold up, this isn’t going to work” and it would be so disappointing after using it for a bit. First world problems still beg for real answers in my mind 😉 Love my fellow crazies…everyone has to do what brings them joy, plus, normal is overrated anyway <3
